Moments & Milestones from 2025
Written by Alex Seleznev, MBA, CFP®, CFA | Dec 30, 2025

Year 2025 was a rather turbulent one, to put it gently.
But it was also a year of meaningful personal and professional growth.
As we finalize the year, I wanted to share a few milestones for our firm and our team.
As a firm that specializes in retirement planning, I’m happy to report that we helped eight of our clients successfully transition into the next chapter of their lives.
For some clients, the transition was not entirely voluntary given the circumstances we experienced in the DC area.
Even so, I remain confident they will fulfill their retirement goals and enjoy their golden years.
Several new clients joined Capital Squared this year and I want to extend a warm welcome to each of you. I’m grateful for the trust you’ve placed in our firm and look forward to building long-term relationships.
I also enjoyed reconnecting with familiar faces from earlier chapters of my career. Resuming those conversations felt natural and brought back the strong relationships built through years of working together. I’m grateful for the opportunity to continue supporting people I know well and deepen those connections.
Overall, the firm finished the year with over $190 million in assets under management.
This milestone is meaningful, but our primary focus remains on providing exceptional client service and support. We are committed to growing in a client-centric and sustainable way.
On the personal side, I’m particularly proud of my sons, Nikolai and Maksim, who developed an interest in tennis and played in their first tournaments this year.
As many of you know, I’m quite partial to tennis and believe it’s one of the best lifetime sports. If you’re looking for a new hobby, I highly recommend giving it a try!
My business partner, Asi de Silva, and his family were very happy to see their daughter, Ameli, settle into college life and form a solid group of friends.
Ameli started college in fall 2024 and as many parents know, the transition isn’t always easy. Today’s social media driven world makes the adjustment even more challenging than when we experienced it over 30 years ago.
This year was full of abundance for our Financial Planning Associate, Alyssa Neece, both personally and professionally. They welcomed a very energetic orange tabby cat named Finneas into the family, completed a dream road trip visiting nine national parks and forests, finished their CFP® education courses and joined the Capital Squared team. Wow!
From all of us at Capital Squared, we wish you a very happy and healthy New Year!
We’re excited for what 2026 will bring and look forward to continuing our conversations with all of you.
