I know many of our clients are seriously thinking about relocation later in life.
As I’m thinking about it, I have conversations on the subject at least a couple of times each month.
Should you sell your house and buy somewhere else? Sell and rent? Move to a warmer climate? Move outside the country?
In this conversation, I sit down with our long time clients Mario and David to talk through how they have approached this decision.
They have been exploring their options for a couple of years now including renting, moving outside the US and staying closer to home.
We talk about what they considered, what surprised them along the way and what they might have done differently.
We covered a lot in this one. Staying connected to your community. The importance of intellectual stimulation and good food. Thoughts on moving outside the USA. The reality of co-op ownership.
And how couples can actually make these decisions together when they don't always agree.
Mario also shared a line about belongings that stuck with me. He called them "a ventriloquist for the past" and warned that you have to be careful about what you give away. Ha!
So there is something for everyone thinking about this kind of move later in life.
Plus, Mario and David are two of the most interesting clients I have. So this conversation was really fun for me!
